![]() If you make a few circuits like this, you'll build up your cash and once you have the Centurion fighter with all the goodies, you can go on and do the plotline missions. Look for the ones that say things like "scout" a nav point for suspicious bad guy activity.Īnyway, good luck. Also, some missions say things like "Destroy Hunters at Nav 4" and those won't work unless you actually kill the ships there. take a loop around the system, hitting (flying through) each waypoint, and burn your way back to the base to land and collect your dough.Ī couple of notes: As you pass each waypoint, check the Nav/mission log to be certain you completed that waypoint, then select the next point and turn and burn straight to it. They'll pull some of the baddies off your tail. This can be fun as you may end up with a dozen pirates, retros, and cats coming after you, but eventually you'll blow through a waypoint where there are helpful hunters, Confeds, militia, or even merchants. hit N for Nav, select the next waypoint, aim your ship at it, and keep on burning! Select each Nav point, hit the Autopilot if you can, and then afterburn straight THROUGH the crosshair. ![]() Set your shield level ONE below your engine level (2 Shield and 3 Engine works great) and you can stay in afterburner forever. So if you've got a ship with an afterburner, you're set. You complete each of these mission segments by flying through the waypoint - NOT by killing stuff. and it will be one of the patrol points anyway. (IMPORTANT! DON'T do this in a system with asteroids in it! It's too hard! Troy and New Detroit systems work fine though.) If the mercenary guild and the mission computer don't have enough of those patrol missions, add one in that says to scout a specific waypoint to eliminate Kilrathi or retros or pirates or whatever. What I do is load up on the in-system patrol missions, which say go to 5 (or whatever) nav points. You may think it's cheating, but it works! I found a sort of funny and easy way to make money in the early part of the game. It's faster than just flying buy/sell commodities trading missions with invulnerability on. I have a "sort of" cheat - I'll repeat that post below for anyone interested in making easy money without just changing the amount in your SAV file. I wrote a reply to another poster the other day about making money in the game. If you don't have the "view file extension" option selected, it may just show up as whatever you named it and you won't notice the file extension on it. Ktm500mx On my computer the files have the extension SAV. What extention does it use thx u=in advance. While there is a central plot, the player can deviate from it somewhat and can continue playing the game after completing the main story missions.Ktm500mx: I have looked for the save file and have not found it. The game is set in the Wing Commander universe, but is more of a free-form game similar to Elite. In the darkness, a battle between ships has woken up something ancient, powerful, and deadly. On the fringe of Human space, near the Kilrathi border, the industrial machine is running full-tilt to feed the war effort, and there is a lot of shipping – but also a lot of pirates, Retros (religious fanatics who want to destroy technology), military, militia, merchants, mercenaries, and privateers. Missions can vary from search and destroy to Fedex (i.e. Use spare cargo room to trade commodities to further add to the account. Take on missions (multiple sources, from the cheapest mission computer, to fixers who has the toughest but most rewarding missions) and earn money for upgrades. ![]() Play Wing Commander: Privateer online! Play Wing Commander: Privateer onlineīuy optional equipment such as armor, engines, shields, weapons, launchers for torpedoes/missiles, and more. Start with the lowly scout, and upgrade to one of the three other superior ships: Galaxy (superior cargo space), Orion (superior protection), or Centurion (superior offense). The player assumes the role of a privateer. Wing Commander: Privateer is a space trading and combat simulation.
